LAPEER — Bishop Kelley Catholic School and its families represent a legacy of academic excellence and Christian service.

Started in 1950 and named for its founder, Bishop Francis Clement Kelley, Bishop Kelley Catholic School educates Preschoolers through 8th Graders, and offers enrichment classes in Art, Band, Choral, Music, Physical Education, Spanish, and Technology. Bishop Kelley is proud of its family type atmosphere and commitment to the growth of their students in mind, body, and soul.

This is a community that leaves casseroles on your doorstep in difficult times, offers prayers at all times, and rejoices together in happy times. From fundraisers to benefit families that have experienced a serious illness to the consideration and kindness students show each other on the playground and in the classroom, families are hard pressed to find an environment as nurturing as that of Bishop Kelley School.

The school is affiliated with Immaculate Conception Parish in Lapeer and students begin each day with prayer, helping students build a personal relationship with Christ Jesus and setting the tone for the rest of the day.

The average class size is 15 students to one teacher. All teaching staff are certified by the state of Michigan and are highly qualified to teach in their subject area. In fact, many Bishop Kelley team members are former students.

The school integrates technology with various other teaching methods to best achieve success for all students.

As a direct result of their education at Bishop Kelley, students become creative thinkers and problem solvers. They gain substantial academic knowledge, self-confidence, and a maturity that enables them to have grace under pressure. They forge lifelong friendships. They are focused and disciplined to achieve their very best. In short, they will be prepared to succeed in the rigors and challenges of secondary education and continue growing spiritually, academically, and socially. Students who graduate from Bishop Kelley leave with leadership skills and often achieve honors or high honors in high school.

Students are also well-versed in the area of giving back. Bishop Kelley has raised money and goods for Lapeer Area Citizens Against Domestic Assault (LACADA), Immaculate Conception Food Pantry and have donated books to the Family Literacy Center.

Bishop Kelley Catholic School is more than an academic institution. It is a family and a community committed to giving children and students the best in life.

Founder Bishop Francis Clement Kelley said, “If you begin right, you will end right. If you plant good seeds, good things will grow ... If you begin with God, you are likely to end with God.”
