CONGER, 89, of

Lapeer, died Tuesday,

February 6, 2018.

Marion was born March 30, 1928, in Grand Blanc Township, to Glenn and Emma Jane (Cook) Bruce. She graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1946. Right out of high school, Marion was a telephone operator for Michigan Bell. She married Omar D. Conger on January 17, 1948 in Lapeer. Marion worked at the Lapeer County Press for over 30 years. Through the years, she worked many jobs at the newspaper, finishing her career in advertising composition. Marion was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer. She bowled in the Columbiaville Ladies Thursday Night Bowling League for over 30 years.

Marion is survived by her children, Linda Conger of Allen Park, Charles Conger of Lapeer, Gary Conger of Allen Park and Leslie (Faye) Conger of Wolcottville, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Laurie (David) Zeigler, Wendy (Dominic) Moya, Matthew (Shannon) Conger, Meredith Ruth, Roderick Conger, Paul Conger, Aaron Conger, Krystal Conger and Andrea Conger; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings, Stanley (Diana) Bruce of Metamora and John “Lee” (Roxanne) Bruce of Grand Blanc.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar D. Conger; two sisters, Clara Jane Bruce and Sally St. Pierre; two brothers, Glen Bruce Jr. and Charles Bruce; and her parents.

Marion’s funeral service was held Friday, February 9, 2018 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. Pastor Grant Lobb officiated. Burial followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lapeer.
