Hospice Walk in an effort to support
our local United Hospice Service
program and ensure that hospice
care is available to those in need,
a group of exceptional volunteers
are coordinating the annual Hospice
Walk fundraiser. The Hospice Walk
is scheduled to take place on
Saturday, May 12, 2018 in Marlette.
Event registration will begin at
8:30 a.m. at Marlette Elementary
School, located at 6230 Euclid
Street. Participants can walk as little
or as much as they would like on
the beautiful outdoor walking trail,
Gayle’s Trail, from 9 a.m. – 10:30
a.m. Recognition will be given to
those who are being honored and
memorialized by event supporters.
There are several opportunities

support this year’s Hospice Walk.

Education Refresher Class The Diabetes
Self-Management Training (DSMT)
program of Marlette Regional Hospital
and McKenzie Health System,
as affiliates of United Healthcare
Partners, invites Thumb Area residents
living with diabetes to take advantage
of an educational opportunity that
can assist them in managing their
condition and overall health. The
Diabetes Self-Management Essentials
201 Course is a new, 2½ hour
refresher class that is taught by a
registered nurse, certified diabetes
educator and registered dietitian. This
refresher class is intended for diabetic
patients that have completed 10 hours
of DSMT education. Course topics
will include healthy eating for weight
loss, medication and insulin use,
evaluating blood glucose results and
much more. Classes are scheduled
for June 6 from 6 – 8:30 p.m., and
September 12 from 9:30 a.m. – 12
p.m. This event will be hosted at
the MRH East Campus in Marlette,
