JAMES DYER, 87, of Lapeer (formerly of

Harbor Beach) died

Saturday, June 9,


James was born November 13, 1930, in Carluke, Scotland, son to James and Margaret (Donald) Dyer. He graduated from the Paisly Institute (Scotland), class of 1946. James served in the Royal Air Force in Malaya and Korea from 1949-1950. He married Mary Wilson Dawkins on March 20, 1954 in Detroit. Jimmy went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State University. He worked as an accountant for both Ford and Chrysler, retiring in 1989. Accumulative, Jimmy’s career lasted 50 years.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary Dyer; three sons, Donald Dyer of Oxford, Alistair (Cynthia) Dyer of Lapeer and John (Patty) Dyer of Yale; four grandchildren, Stuart (Nicole) Dyer, Amanda Dyer, Thomas Dyer and Katie Dyer; great-grandbaby, Deonte; brother, Donald (Fran) Dyer of Shawnee Mission, KS.

James was preceded in death by his parents.

In keeping with Jimmy’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer.
