ARCHIE ROSS QUEEN, JR., 75, of Lapeer (formerly of Clinton Twp.), died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, surrounded by his dear family.

He was born July

17, 1943, in Detroit, to

Archibald and Elizabeth

(Birk) Queen, Sr.

Archie graduated in 1962 from Servite

Catholic High School in Detroit. He married Carol Jo Diener on February 11, 1966 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Detroit. Mr. Queen retired from Utica Machine in Utica, where he was a machine designer. Archie loved time spent with family and friends at “Queen’s Hill”, camping up north near Rose City. He enjoyed fly fishing, canoeing, sitting around the campfire, just being outdoors with family and friends. Eighteen years ago, Mr. Queen received a lung transplant at the University of Michigan, he was proud to have out lived all life expectancy predictions at the time. Archie was an active member of the Better Breathers Club at McLaren – Lapeer. Family meant everything to Mr. Queen.

Mr. Queen is survived by his wife, Carol Queen of Lapeer; children, Jeff (MaryEllen) Queen of Richmond, Greg (Katy Landless) Queen of Harrison Twp. and Leslie (Rudy) Ruth of Bloomfield Twp.; grandchildren, Josh Queen, Tyler Queen, Meghan Murphy, Melissa Murphy, Grace Queen, Lydia Queen and Ella Ruth; sisters, Barbara Fitzgerald of Warren, Mary Powers of Livonia and Jane (George) Diamond of Grosse Pointe Woods; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill (Ann Marie) Queen; brothers-in-law, Bob Powers and Jim Fitzgerald.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Gift of Life Foundation, 3861 Research Park Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48108.

Archie’s funeral service was held Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 1021 S. Lapeer Rd., Lapeer, MI 48446.
